This year I’ve had the privilege to be the fall guy in a few of Shihan Cameron Quinn’s live YouTube videos. You can check them out below:
2. Using underhooks in grappling and fighting
3. Using the head in training and fighting
4. The blue belt blues – a discussion
Cameron is the author of The Budo Karate of Mas Oyama book, an incredible read plus he has a fantastic YouTube page full of useful and educational video’s on Kyokushin Karate, philosophy, bunkai, all ranges of fighting and the list goes on.
‘The Budo Blueprint’ app is another innovation Cameron created this year. If you’re interested in martial arts you can check it out here. As a participant currently part way through the curriculum I can’t speak highly enough about it.
Another benefit is the other participants, martial artists from around the world asking questions and sharing their insights and experiences in training, competition and confrontation. It’s a fantastic community of humble, helpful people.
One of the many inspiring things about Cameron is he’s always training. In a world where most people are quick to exaggerate their skills and their training habits, Cameron is the opposite. He says little and trains a lot.
Always pressure testing techniques. Always learning. Always rounding out the five ranges. Always asking why a technique does or does not work against a non compliant opponent. Always open to sharing his 50+ years of martial arts experience with his students and always keen to train and improve. I’ve got to say, it’s hard not to be inspired.
It’s no surprise he’s insanely skilled, continually innovating and an incredible teacher.
